DUKE ROBILLARD BAND

NEW-MORNING

PARIS, FRANCE

9 Octobre 2006

I remember when I first heard Duke Robbilard in the 70's, with my cousin in Inman Square Cambridge. He was fronting Room Full of Blues, and from the moment I laid ears on him I knew he was the real deal.

That R and B music grabbed me and remains my favorite Duke Robillard period. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed each and every occasion and style I've heard Duke play Rock and Roll, Blues and particularly Jazz. When you listen to this you'll hear almost all of Duke's styles.

I particular like the return to the R&B horn section. Its many years since I've heard this vintage Robillard and I like it better than ever. Check out the guitar solo on Blue Coat Man and the Pink Panther like performance of Glide On. Though a bit over recorded I give this my highest rating!
