Addicted to War, Why the US can't kick militarism contains the history lessons we didn't get in high school. One of the candidates running in the primaries in 2003-4 focused on the idea of two Americas, the America of the rich, and the America of the poor. Perhaps another way of describing these two Americas could be described in a different way as the idealized America we learn about where 'all men are created equal' , and the real America, where if you aren't white and male and well off you get significantly different treatment .

(In Miwaulkee a convicted white fellon has a 5 times better chance of getting a job than a black person with a high school degree and no criminal record)

 

Don't be fooled by the 'comic book' style, Joel Andreas has written a well documented and interesting 'book', one that I hope serves to encourage discussion of 'two Americas'. i hope you will read and think about the facts presented here.
